Flamenco & Ballet Clash in Romeo & Juliette
You may have heard the story of Romeo & Juliette hundreds of times, but you've never seen it quite like this. This latest version is presented by Elephant in the Black Box, an avant-garde Madrid based dance troupe, and features dancers from the National Ballet of Spain in the roles of the feuding families. It's a completely fresh take on the famous love story with a fusion of fiery, passionate flamenco dance & elements of classic and neo-classic ballet.
The show is expertly choreographed by multi-award winning ballet master, Jean-Philippe Dury, whose dance credits include the Ballet of the Paris Opera, Grand Ballet of Montreal & National Dance Company of Madrid. Among his accolades:
- Artistic & Contemporary prize of Saint-Petersburg (1998)
- Winner: International Dance Competition in Florence (2001)
- Winner: Grand Prix of the Republic of Italy for dance (2002)
