Welcome to the World of Bartabas

If you've been to a Bartabas production before, you know the above video doesn't come close to conveying the energy, madness & excitement of the show. Bartabas uses horses, actors, dancers, light effects & live music to create an alternate world where anything goes and where your imagination runs wild. Part horse show, part dance theatre and part 'what the heck was that', this show is definitely different and absolutely fun.

Calacas Zingaro

Calacas is Bartabas' newest creation, performed by the Zingaro equestrian theatre group. Inspired by Mexican folk tales, the show is a 1h30 exploration of life, death, reality & perception. We really don't know how to describe it, so we'll let the PR people do it for us:

"After having pounded the ground of his Théâtre Equestre Zingaro for more than a quarter of a century, Bartabas is now tackling the skies. There he intends to celebrate with renewed vigour, chasing after the grim reaper and the living dead on horseback. Prepare to enter into the dance of the joyfully macabre, performed under your very eyes and above your head. A twofold wild and furious carnival led to the sound of Chinchineros drums, Mexican brass bands and the barrel organ, with, as always, the presence of horses, the surest psychopompos animal ever to act as escort, steed, messenger and guardian angel."
