Whether you're totally clueless or already have some photography experience, Oliver O’Hanlon’s hands-on courses & workshops will help enhance your technical & artistic skills. Courses & workshops are held at Oliver’s studio in Vernier and are done in a fun, interactive & non-intimidating atmosphere. We've worked with Oliver several times already & we highly recommend him!
Intro to Photography Workshop (Beginners)
- Workshop is 1 x 7 hour session
- Happens Saturdays 9h30 to 17h00
- CHF 99 instead of 220
This workshop for beginners covers the technical & practical aspects of shooting for compact & DSLR cameras as well as artistic expression & personal style.
The morning is spent on topics like camera functions, shooting modes, shutter speed, aperture, perspective, composition & lots more. The class has lunch together at a local restaurant (not included in cost of workshop) and you then spend the afternoon outside shooting photos together. Topics for the shooting session include: portraiture, landscapes, street photography & architecture.
Your work is analyzed & reviewed by Oliver during a critique session the following week. More Info

This workshop is for more advanced photographers who understand the basic modes & functions of their cameras and want to refine their skills & enhance their artistic styles.
The morning is spent exploring photographic styles & techniques in the studio. The class has lunch together at a local restaurant (not included in cost of workshop) and then spends the afternoon outside putting theory to work by shooting photographs. Topics for the shooting session include: setting your camera for different styles, black & white photography, using movement & flash. More Info

This course (5 x 2 hour classes) is for beginners or for those who want to refresh their basic photography skills. It covers the technical & practical aspects of shooting for both compact & DSLR cameras. Focus is also on your artistic expression & individual approach. Technical subjects are explained with in-depth slideshows. Your homework assignments will be analyzed & reviewed during the following lesson. Oliver will demonstrate different shooting techniques & several hands-on shooting sessions are organized with the class.
The syllabus includes: camera functions, shooting modes, exposure, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, focal length and perspective, setting your camera for different situations, light, composition, the decisive moment, portraits, landscapes, architecture & street photography. More Info

This course (5 x 2 hour classes) is created for those who already understand the basic modes & functions of their camera (Intermediate/Advanced) & want to take their photography to the next level. The focus is on refining your skills & enhancing your personal approach & style.
The presentations are interactive involving discussion on the topics covered. Several slide shows expose you to a range of photographic styles with analysis of aesthetics, equipment & camera settings used. Participants learn how to be consistent in the their approach, develop their own range of styles and produce thematic or narative photo stories. 2 practical shooting sessions with Oliver are organized during the course.
Homework assignments are given out each week & reviewed in class the following week.

About the Instructor
Oliver O’Hanlon fell in love with photography at 16 and has been pursuing his craft ever since. He completed his formal photography training in the United States and has been photographing & teaching for over 20 years.
